Wayne Wilmot: Details of depraved find after serial rapist was freed from jail
EXCLUSIVE
A serial rapist who has spent most of his adult life in prison was caught watching hardcore porn after he asked the officer overseeing his release from prison to erase his phone’s browsing history.
Police later discovered that Wayne Wilmot’s internet searches included “very, very, very extreme, hard Asian threesome porn” and “16 men for one Asian girl.”
Wilmot, now 51, was part of a gang that kidnapped, raped and murdered bank employee Janine Balding in September 1988. He has been in prison ever since, all but 20 months.
In October 1996, he was released on parole, but he again committed assaults against female victims and continued his sex crimes against other inmates while in prison.
In April, a High Court judge declared Wilmot a high-risk sex offender and placed him under an interim supervision order (ESO).
An ESO may be called upon to continuously monitor an offender who is at high risk for sexual or violent behavior after his or her prison sentence has ended and the person is allowed to return to the community.
One of the conditions of Wilmot’s order was that he was not to access, possess or view pornography, including X18+ restricted material.
Wilmot was released in June and given a cell phone the next day.

During the first five days of his freedom, he used the phone to carry out “appropriate” searches, such as seeking contact details for Service NSW, documents tendered to the court show.
From that moment on, Wilmot began searching for pornography. He started with the simple search for ‘porn site’.
Two weeks after Wilmot’s release, he asked a Department of Corrections Officer (DSO) during a routine visit to his home to ‘look at my phone’.
“The suspect asked the DSO to delete his browsing history because he thought it would make his phone work better,” a police information sheet said.
‘While the DSO attempted to assist the suspect, he noticed that a number of tabs were open indicating that he had visited Pornhub.’
Police reviewed the predator’s Google history and found that his searches had quickly escalated from an initial search for “porn site,” which he conducted a week after regaining his freedom
Wilmot was the first to enter search terms such as ‘hardcore porn videos’, ‘extreme hardcore porn videos’ and ‘Asian porn’.
Wayne Wilmot was 15 when he and a group of four others, aged 14, 15, 16 and 22, travelled to Sutherland train station in Sydney’s south and abducted Janine Balding (above) at knifepoint
This was followed by ‘really really hard fucking porn videos’, ‘rough Asian threesome porn videos’ and ’14 year old Asian teen really really hard porn’.
By the time he was done, Wilmot was searching for ‘6 naked men for one Asian girl’, ‘very very very extremely hard Asian threesome porn’ and ’16 men for one Asian girl’.
Wilmot was arrested and pleaded guilty to seeking and viewing X 18+ pornographic material, in breach of his interim supervision order.
Wilmot appeared via audio-visual link at Waverley Crown Court on Tuesday, where Judge Jacqueline Milledge sentenced him to a fixed 18-month prison term.
Wilmot’s lawyer Dev Bhutani had suggested a sentence of about six months, arguing that a “short, substantial jail sentence” would deter his client from breaching the order again.
“He has been in custody almost continuously since he was 15,” Mr Bhutani said.
Mrs. Milledge: ‘[From] “What I’ve read about his history is where he belongs.”
Wilmot has since appealed the severity of the sentence. The case will be heard by the district court.
Public outrage arose when it became known that Wilmot would receive financial support through the taxpayer. When he was released in June, he received benefits from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

This support consisted of a total of 24 hours of assistance per week to improve his ‘daily life’ and increase his ‘social, economic and community participation’.
Wilmot was 15 when he and a group of four others, aged 14, 15, 16 and 22, travelled to Sutherland train station in Sydney’s south and abducted Ms Balding at knifepoint.
The 20-year-old was forced into a car driven by Wilmot and raped in the backseat before being driven to a remote area of western Sydney where she was sexually assaulted again.
Wilmot and the other 15-year-old girl, a mentally handicapped girl, took no active part when Mrs. Balding was dragged to a dam and drowned.
Sentencing the group, Judge Peter Newman accepted that Wilmot “knew nothing of their decision to subsequently kill her” and was not involved in the murder.
He found that Wilmot had not raped Mrs Balding, but was guilty because of his involvement in the joint criminal enterprise.
Wilmot was sentenced to nine years and four months in prison for a series of offences, including sexual intercourse without consent, arrest with intent to obtain profit and theft in company.
