A Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder loaned by football legend Wayne Rooney to a friend goes up for auction.
The friend in question was his fellow Manchester player, Argentine star Carlos Tevez, 39, who reportedly pitted Wayne, 37, for not owning a supercar when he joined the club in 2007.
According to ESPN, Tevez said: “I came to the club in the Audi the club gave me and everyone was harassing me with it, like it was a Fiat 600.
“I talked to Rooney about it and crazy guy that he is, he told me ‘get the Lamborghini’.
“So I took him and went through Manchester without registering him in the car, this car he gave me.”

Sort: The friend in question was his fellow Manchester United star Carlos Tevez, 39, who reportedly pitted Wayne, 37, for not owning a supercar when he joined the club in 2007
Oh no! According to ESPN, Tevez said: ‘I came to the club in the Audi the club gave me and everyone was harassing me with it, like it was a Fiat 600’
According to Tevez, he picked up the car at Wayne’s house and used it for ten days.
The dream machine of the 2007 model, originally priced around £160,000, will go under the hammer at Iconic Auctioneers on August 25 at the Silverstone Festival.
The Lambo has had only three registered owners, the first being Rooney, and is valued at £50,000 – £60,000.
Powered by a 5.2-liter V10 engine producing 552 horsepower, the LP560-4 model can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 325 km/h.
Iconic auctioneers say: ‘Carlos Tevez was also a world-renowned star, playing in his homeland as well as the UK, Italy and China, eventually returning to Argentina late in his career.
So this car offers a special opportunity to own a car that once belonged to two world-famous footballers. Provenance doesn’t come more gilded than that.”
It comes as Coleen Rooney has admitted that the Wagatha Christie trial nearly broke her 15-year marriage to footballer Wayne because it “took its toll.”
In an interview with British VogueColeen, 37, said she was ‘hurt, short-tempered and frustrated’ and Wayne ‘didn’t think she was the same person anymore’.
Surprise! He added: “I talked to Rooney about it and crazy guy that he is he told me ‘take the Lamborghini’
Gift for his friend: According to Tevez, he picked up the car from Wayne’s house and drove it for ten days
Coming soon: The dream machine of the 2007 model, originally priced around £160,000, will go under the hammer at Iconic Auctioneers at Silverstone Festival on August 25
Unexpected: He continued: ‘So I took him and without registering him went through Manchester by car, this car he gave me’
Rebekah had sued Coleen for leaking details of Coleen’s private life to the press after Coleen mounted an extensive sting operation to find out who passed on stories about her to The Sun.
And while Coleen won the £3 million libel case, she admitted that things weren’t going smoothly at home and she felt the stress was draining the life out of her.
She said of Wayne, “He supported me, you know, but it took a toll. He kept saying “don’t worry, it will be fine” the whole time.
“But there were certain times when we disagreed. Not on the case, but he would be annoyed with me because I was hot-tempered.
Sighing, she added, “You know. I didn’t have time for him. I lost focus.’
Coleen admitted she was forced to spend hours on the phone with her legal team, which meant her family had to step in to help with their four sons.
She said, “Obviously when you’re in a relationship that’s one of the most important things. You must have time for each other.’
The couple’s history of marital problems is well documented due to various scandals, sex workers and so on, but she remains calm on the subject when pressured.
She said: ‘We’ve had our ups and downs. Apparently everyone knows. It was hard to go through it in public, but there has always been love. When the love is gone, you know, it’s pointless. But if not, then you have something to work for.’
“It has been a struggle at times. I look at (every) situation we’re in and think, ‘Can we move on after that? Is it worth going from there?’ I’m not giving up easily.’
“There was a point, in the fall of 2021, when Wayne said, ‘He felt like I wasn’t myself anymore.’
She remembers sitting outside football with her dad one afternoon, crying and crying. “You look bad,” he told her and she moaned that she just wanted (the libel case) to be over. So the relief. The relief was everything.’
Coleen said she gives this advice to her friends in similar positions.
She said, ‘Don’t give up right away. You’ll get annoyed right away, but I’ve always given myself time.
“And there have been times when it took me longer than others to figure out what I want. There have been doubts. “Is this going to work?” I have been full of frustration and pain.
“But another thing is that we never shy away from it. We own it. I remember having a conversation with someone about this and I said, ‘Well, you know what your wife gets up to every day and night? At least I know what my husband is doing!’
“It may not be right,” she says with a laugh, “but I know. People lie to themselves.’
