Wayne Rooney SACKED as Plymouth manager, with his team rooted to the bottom of the table and amid wife Coleen’s concerns about his ‘bachelor lifestyle’ hundreds of miles from home

Wayne Rooney has been sacked as manager of Plymouth Argyle as the club languishes at the bottom of the Championship table.

The former England and Manchester United captain was appointed to the Devon squad this summer for his third spell in the English second tier after managing Derby and Birmingham.

Rooney oversaw just 25 games in all competitions, with his side recording just five wins.

Plymouth currently sit bottom of the Championship with four wins this season, with the Pilgrims having suffered thirteen league defeats.
