Wayne Rooney has expressed concern over Jude Bellingham’s frustrated body language at Euro 2024.

The former England and Manchester United star believes Bellingham is sending the wrong message to his teammates, manager and fans.

Rooney feared the 20-year-old was about to let his frustration “boil over” to the point where he could “do something stupid” during the 0-0 draw with Slovenia.

In addition, he has a bone to pick with Harry Kane, Jordan Pickford and Kyle Walker after they failed to brief the press after the match, increasing pressure on younger stars Anthony Gordon and Cole Palmer.

‘Three or four times in the first half he [Bellingham] couldn’t hide his frustration (against Slovenia). He turned to look at others and threw his arms up. Such body language sends a message to the fans, to his teammates, to the manager,” Rooney wrote in his column The times.

The expert is concerned he ‘might do something stupid’ but admits he is only 20

‘I just hope the frustration doesn’t boil over to the point where he gets a red card or does something stupid and gets injured. Against Slovenia it looked like he came close.

“There was one time he ran through, but the pass was too far and he slid off the side on his knees, almost hitting the billboards. Frustration. But something like that is so stupid — you can hurt yourself.”

Rooney points out something we all need to remember: Bellingham is only 20.

Although this is his third major tournament with the Three Lions after the 2020 European Championships and the 2022 World Cup, he is still relatively new to the scene and is learning how to deal with the pressure that comes with being an international player. phenomenon.

Rooney finds it ‘strange’ that the Real Madrid hero does not do written media interviews, because he ‘should take responsibility’ due to his status.

It’s something Ian Ladyman and Craig Hope talked about on a recent episode of Euros Daily podcast from Mail Sportsuggesting that Bellingham would benefit from developing a closer relationship with journalists as it would allow him to better communicate with fans.

In his column, Rooney added that Kane, Pickford and Walker should have answered the nation’s questions after a lacklustre performance against Slovenia.

He wrote: ‘We should have seen Harry, Jordan Pickford, Kyle Walker and other experienced players emerge.

He also criticised Harry Kane, Jordan Pickford and Kyle Walker for failing to report to the press after the 0-0 draw with Slovenia.

Anthony Gordon and Cole Palmer are “handling themselves well” with media duties, Rooney wrote

‘Instead it was Anthony Gordon doing the press, it was Cole Palmer doing bits – and this was the stuff at the end, when fans were throwing beer mugs at Gareth Southgate.

‘At that point you need your senior guys in front of the microphones to calm things down. The youngsters handled themselves well, but if one word could make things worse, there was a lot of pressure to put them under pressure.’
