Wayne Rooney has opened up about his time at Man United and revealed the one player who was a ‘nightmare’ in the dressing room.

Rooney, 38, is one of the best players to ever play for the club after an impressive 13-year spell at Old Trafford.

In total, the former England captain scored 253 goals in 559 appearances, making him United’s all-time record goalscorer, while also winning 16 trophies with the Red Devils.

Rooney joined from Everton as an 18-year-old and was part of a hugely iconic United team during the final years of Sir Alex Ferguson’s decorated reign.

However, despite playing with some of the greatest players in the club’s history, Rooney explained that not everything was always rosy in the dressing room and pointed to a former teammate.

‘[Nemanja] Vidic was a nightmare,” Rooney continued The overlapis sponsored by Sky bet.

‘He had a fight with someone, I remember he didn’t speak to Giggsy [Ryan Giggs] I haven’t spoken to Patrice for six months [Evra] He argued for months and just wouldn’t talk to them.

‘I had a fight with him once and I remember he was going the same route with me, so I pulled him in for a chat and said, ‘Grow up, what’s wrong with you? We are teammates.”

Vidic spent eight brilliant years at Man United between 2006 and 2014 after joining from Spartak Moscow. He won a total of fifteen trophies, including five Premier League titles.

He is widely regarded as one of the best ever top-flight centre-backs, alongside John Terry, Vincent Kompany, Rio Ferdinand and Virgil van Dijk.

It is unclear when Rooney fell out with Vidic, but the two were teammates during the Serb’s eight-year spell at United.

In a wider discussion on the show, the likes of Andy Cole and Roy Keane also discussed various dressing room grievances from their time at Old Trafford.

Cole even revealed how he once ‘almost punched’ Teddy Sheringham after a long-running feud came to a head, before Roy Keane intervened.

And Keane later explained how these arguments were common during his time at the club, but he also insisted they never affected the side’s overall success.

He added: ‘What’s really important about all these things, the player fights, the problems with Teddy [Sheringham]Whatever it is, the key was that despite all these arguments it never got in the way of our goals as a team.

“That was trying to win the next weekend and the next game.”
