After confirming he was playing for West Ham at the time, Wayne explained: ‘I’ve done that a few times while falling asleep, I like to sleep in the afternoon too. When I go to sleep, I sleep with the hairdryer in my face…’
The admission caused Arsenal legend Ian to burst out laughing as he asked: ‘The hot hairdryer?’ with Wayne clarifying that he prefers the cold air.
Explaining how this became a problem when he fell asleep in hotels, he explained, “Sometimes that turns off the alarm and I sleep through.”
Ian questioned him further and then asked: ‘So you needed that white noise?’, to which Wayne added: ‘I still have it now. So if I’m alone in a hotel, I have a hairdryer on.’
Baffled by his friend’s unusual sleep preferences, Ian further asked if Wayne uses apps to aid his sleep instead of a hairdryer.
Where Wayne then said, “I’ve tried all these different things, I’ve tried the apps, I’ve tried everything.”
When asked if the electrical device needed to be close to him, Wayne held up his hand and confirmed that the hairdryer was placed right in front of his face.
Shocked by Wayne’s confession, Roy intervenes and asks: ‘Is it all night?’, before swearing as Wayne confirmed it was.
