Wayne Rooney has impressed with Erik ten Hag after making frequent visits to Manchester United’s training ground during the MLS off-season.

Rooney, who is currently in charge of DC United, has ambitions to return to Old Trafford as Manchester United manager in the future.

The report shows that Rooney is impressed by ten Hag’s vision of the club. The Dutchman has been happy to advise United’s all-time top scorer on management.

In March, Rooney admitted he wants to eventually manage Manchester United.

United’s all-time record goalscorer, he scored 253 goals in 559 appearances for the club.

He told The Sun: ‘The whole reason I’m going to management is Manchester United. I was offered the interview for the job at Everton.

“I want to be a manager of Manchester United. I know I’m not ready just yet, but I have to plan everything I do to make sure it will happen someday.”

Rooney began his managerial career with Derby County, where the club faced significant financial difficulties.

Following his departure from Derby in June, Rooney became the manager of DC United, which he previously represented as a player.

Rooney has led 14 games to date, winning two, drawing three and losing nine.
