While interviewing as partners on the televised celebrity golf tournament, “The Match,” Wayne Gretzky and Bill Murray made fun of a fellow golfer for crashing his cart in the middle of an interview.
The greatest hockey player of all time and the ‘Ghostbusters’ actor won a thrilling match against Charles Barkley and Ken Griffey Jr. on the fourth playoff hole to advance to the semifinals.
Murray’s comedic timing is still relevant at age 74, as is his inner “Saturday Night Live” sketch comedy.
Gretzky may have given the ‘Caddyshack’ star an edge with his first line after the loud bang of the crash, which happened off-camera, was heard.
“Down goes Frazier,” the hockey legend said, referring to Howard Cosell’s comments during George Foreman and Joe Frazier’s 1973 heavyweight title fight, titled “The Sunshine Showdown.”
“The man who just heard my confession just crashed into the fence over there,” Murray added, confusing Ernie Johnson, who had called the action.

Johnson then asks the cameraman to turn to the left so viewers can see the damage caused by the crash.
Murray himself guides the camera to the wall where the crash occurred.
As the camera focuses off course, a few people pick up the tile of the gate which appears to have come loose from the impact of the crash.
‘Run for it! Run for it,” Murray told those collecting damage from the crash.
‘I don’t understand how they hit the fence. It’s 40 feet from here,” Gretzky added.
The competition now turns individual as Gretzky will now face Murray in a semi-final, with the winner advancing to the $1 million final.
