I am a make-up artist – these three mistakes are aging you and most people are guilty of at least two

A world-famous make-up artist has revealed the three mistakes women make that ‘make their faces look years older’.

Wayne Gosswho became famous for his transformative makeup tutorials on YouTube, told FEMAIL that the three mistakes are “easy to fix”.

The problem is that most people don’t realize where they went wrong.

“Most of us wear makeup to look better, or to hide wrinkles that we have developed over the years,” he explains.

‘But due to a number of mistakes, the makeup we wear can have the opposite effect. It can even make us look younger not one or two years, but ten years.’

Wearing metallic eyeshadow, the wrong concealer and not applying foundation to your face are the most common mistakes associated with skin aging.

Avoid metallic eyeshadow

Mr. Goss says to opt for classic matte eyeshadows instead of the bolder metallic shades.

Skin becomes drier as we age, so choosing hydrating ingredients becomes increasingly important

“Matte generally works best because it doesn’t draw attention to wrinkled areas or creases,” he said.

Metallic eyeshadow clings to fine lines, making them stand out instead of hiding them.

The type of concealer

Wayne wants people to be more picky about their concealer.

“People often use concealer that is too light around the eyes, which can make you look older, so it’s really important to choose a color that matches your skin tone,” he said.

Wayne always recommends a cream concealer over a liquid one. He says to apply it to the inner corner of your eye because that’s the one part of your eye that never creases.

Always moisturize and use a primer

As you age, your skin becomes drier, so it’s important to choose hydrating ingredients that can make or break your look.

“Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid in your next makeup and skin care purchases to ensure your products are keeping your skin hydrated,” says Wayne Goss

Also start by applying a good moisturizer before applying makeup. This will make the skin look plumper and more youthful.

Wayne stressed that it’s crucial to invest in a good primer that you apply over your moisturizer and under your makeup.

Primers act as a smooth ‘barrier’ between the makeup and the skin.

“This ensures that the makeup stays in the right places all day long, and not just in the fine lines,” he said.
