After battling leg injuries for more than a year, USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams marked his return to starting action for the United States with a howitzer of a goal for his final contribution of the evening.

Adams came on as a substitute in the team’s poor performance against Jamaica, a match the US won 3–1 after extra time.

But the Bournemouth man impressed with a cannon shot from more than 30 yards out that sailed perfectly into the top left corner to give the Americans a 1-0 lead at half-time.

The shot caused shock and awe throughout the stadium – from commentators, writers and fans as Adams ran to the sideline and jumped into the arms of coach Gregg Berhalter.

Jesse Marsch, who coached Adams at the New York Red Bulls and at Leeds United, said: ‘I’ve been in training and passed him the ball from 30 yards out to shoot… and he’s never hit a ball in his life . a ball like that.’

It was the last action of the evening for Adams, as the midfielder was taken off the field at halftime

It was only Adams’ second goal for the United States, and his last goal was also against Mexico.

At half-time, Berhalter removed Adams and replaced him with Johnny Cardoso, as there is likely an agreement between the US manager and Adams’ club to limit his minutes while he completes his recovery from a ligament injury.

Adams had not appeared on the pitch between September and early March, when he played a few games for Bournemouth’s youth team.

The following week he made his Premier League debut for the Cherries, coming on as a substitute.

Adams has been struggling with an injury since March, when he played for Leeds United.
