This is the horrifying moment a golf fan fooled death by standing in front of the world’s eighth-ranked golfer Max Homa as he took a shot at the Players Championship.
In an attempt to film a – now viral – TikTok, an unnamed golf fan got a little too close for comfort on the 14th hole and almost got hit by a ball from the Rough.
In the clip, Homa is seen lining up for a shot during his third round at Sawgrass before firing a ball just inches above the supporter’s head, much to the shock of him and the other fans standing next to him.
Asked about the terrifying incident ahead of his final round on Sunday, Homa confirmed he punched a tree and not a fan in the clip.
When asked if he thinks fans are too close in such situations, the American replied: ‘Yes, usually. I asked them to step back, and they followed their usual three or four steps.

The man filming the shot was dangerously close to the line of Homa’s shot attempt
‘I tried to go much higher than that. I probably should have asked them to move more, but I didn’t know I was going to stab him.
‘Usually you ask them to move and they take two steps back. I just think it’s for their own safety. I’m glad I didn’t hit anyone, it was scary.
“I tried to go significantly higher… but it gave some people a good story, I heard some people laughing, so at least they got that out of it.”
Homa then scored a quadruple bogey nine on the hole, but will no doubt be happy that everyone came through unscathed.
A day later, Homa stayed out of trouble and enjoyed a better final round at the Players
At the top of the leaderboard, Xander Schauffele entered the final lap with the lead
It was ultimately that hole that ruined his third round at Sawgrass on Saturday, when he carded a two-over 74 that saw him plummet down the leaderboard.
On Sunday he came back with a 71, but as of Sunday afternoon he was 67th in the rankings.
At the top of the leaderboard, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman were all ready to battle for the lead on the final day of play.
