Driver Nolan Siegel shook off a horrific crash during the Indy 500 on Friday.
During his fifteenth lap, the 19-year-old’s car spun before hitting the barricade. As Siegel attempted to regain control, the vehicle turned to face the rear of the wall before flipping over and over.
After the terrifying wreck, Siegel immediately informed his team that the PA system was fine.
‘Yes, I’m fine. I’m so sorry, guys,” the Californian said. ‘It goes well.’
‘Don’t know [what happened], to be honest,” Siegel shared after being checked and released from the field care center. “I’ll have to take a closer look.”

Siegel was able to walk away from the wreck with help after his car went back and forth
“I had a moment of upset that I caught and then I turned back in and spun around, and I’m not sure why.”
Although relieved to emerge from the wreck in good condition, the young racer said he felt sorry for his team, suggesting their efforts after the crash had been in vain.
“I feel sorry for the team that worked so hard for this for so long and just threw it away,” he said. ‘So I’m not happy with that at all.
“But we’ll move on and see if we can get back out there and qualify for tomorrow’s race.”
Siegel currently competes full-time in the Indy NXT and is competing for his second points-paying start in the IndyCar Series. The teen was able to walk away from the wreck with help. However, the race was interrupted as the track required patchwork after his car’s suspension dug into the pavement.

“I’m fine,” Siegel repeated. “I feel like I can get back out there and at least we have a chance of making the race, but it’s definitely a setback that we didn’t need, so I apologize to everyone.”
“We probably have to go back to the spare car and we don’t know exactly where it will be. I’m going to see what I can do differently.’
