The curling attempt surprised Boruc in goal, who was helpless in goal as the ball disappeared past him into the top left corner.
The current Plymouth manager’s 25-yard strike gave the Red Devils the lead in the star-studded friendly.
During his successful career, Rooney (38) scored a record 253 goals for United in 559 games.

The Old Trafford legend left Everton for the Manchester club in 2004 and the rest is history.
The Scouse-born striker won five league titles, an FA Cup, three League Cups, the Champions League in 2008, the Europa League and a Club World Cup under Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
Rooney played the majority of his career at United, including 13 years with the Red Devils.
In 2017, he left the club to return to his boyhood club Everton, where he played for a full season before moving elsewhere.
The following year he joined American club DC United, after which he ended his active career with Derby County.

Rooney admitted ahead of today’s match that he would have liked to wear the Scottish club’s shirt during his playing days.
He admitted that Celtic Club Media: ‘Celtic have always been a team I’ve followed and wanted to win against.
‘Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to play for Celtic, which I would have liked.
“But I didn’t train and didn’t get that chance.”
