  • Layne Riggs earned his first career victory on Sunday in West Allis, Wisconsin
  • But the 22-year-old suffered a bizarre injury after the race

A NASCAR driver suffered a strange injury Sunday after capturing his first career victory.

Layne Riggs finished the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series’ LiUNAI 175 in first place and then jumped on his vehicle to celebrate his victory.

But as the driver was waving his arms around in celebration, he actually dislocated one of his shoulders. It was a bizarre scene.

The video shows Riggs immediately bending over and grabbing his arm in pain.

He was assisted by several members of his team.

However, Riggs did not seem to be bothered too much by the injury and celebrated his victory with a smile.

“I dislocated my shoulder and I celebrated a lot, but it was worth it,” Riggs said.

“We had a terrible year, it was a terrible year, but I learned so much in my rookie season,” he added. “After the start I thought we would never win, we’re just doing our best and learning for next year. But I knew in practice that this thing [today] was great.”

Riggs, son of former NASCAR driver Scott Riggs, took the lead from Ty Majeski with 53 laps to go.

He took a solid 1.547-second win over the Wisconsin native and a super-motivated group of Playoff drivers, making the rookie driver’s performance all the more impressive.

Riggs’ victory in the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports Ford comes a day after 23-year-old Harrison Burton, son of former NASCAR star Jeff Burton, earned his first career victory in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway.

“I don’t even know how to describe it,” said an emotional Riggs, making just his 23rd start in the series. He said he knew during practice that his truck would be in the race. “It’s awesome.”
