Football fans have praised Ipswich Town striker Wes Burns for his incredible goal against Coventry City.

The winger collected the ball on the right wing after a classy substitution before beating his man and smashing an outside-foot shot past the helpless Bradley Collins and into the net.

Burns' strike sent Portman Road wild as he and his teammates raced to celebrate the goal that put them 2-0 ahead just before half-time.

The goal ultimately became the decisive goal, with Brandon Williams scoring an unfortunate own goal in the 96th minute as the clash ended 2–1.

With Ipswich second in the Championship, fans are praising their style of play this season, but all they could talk about after the match was Burns' goal.

Speaking to X, an Ipswich Town supporter suggested that Burns' strike would go down as the best in the club's history.

He said: 'Possibly the best goal I have ever seen Ipswich Town score…. Absolutely incredible!!”

Another fan went a step further, calling the goal 'arguably one of the best ever scored in the Championship', and it's hard to dispute that statement.

It was clear the football world was impressed with the goal as Mail Sport's Dominic King compared it to Alejandro Garnacho's goal against Everton recently.

'There was a lot of talk last week about the most beautiful goal you will ever see, etc…

“As good as Garnacho's bicycle kick was, this is what football is about,” he said of Burns' finish.

Kieran McKenna's Ipswich are on course to achieve back-to-back promotions and end up in the Premier League next season.

And one X-user believes Burns' strike was already at Premier League level.

Even EA Sports has been urged to take inspiration from Burns' strike, with EAFC24 players calling for an in-form card of Burns.

“Wednesday at 6pm I expect to see an 83 Wes Burns IF with Trivela playstyle +,” said a fan who wants to use the card in his Ultimate Team.

Another compared him to Portuguese cult hero Quaresma, who was no stranger to an outside leg finish.

'Quaresma is that you?' they asked.

A final Ipswich supporter credited McKenna and his side for the football they play.

They called Burns' strike 'utter madness' as he suggested the Tractor Boys are scoring great goals every week.

“Fans of other teams think we are lucky etc and we produce goals like this every week,” he wrote.
