A Texas mother has been publicly shamed and banned from attending peewee football games after she chased a 12-year-old boy when he performed a legal tackle against her son mid-game.

Video footage shows the unidentified woman storming past the sidelines threatening and chasing after Ivan Flanagan with something gripped in her hands.

Ivan can be seen running away with his hands in the air, seemingly startled by the bizarre reaction.

The woman was found in violation of multiple code and conduct policies according to the Youth Football and Cheerleading league.

They called the woman a ‘substantial threat to the environment,’ according to Fox 8.

Emilla Rucker, who is Ivan’s mom, spoke to ABC 13 Houston and said she was shocked to see a grown woman behave in that manner.

‘This is ridiculous. How can you get that angry at a kids game?’ she said.

‘Your son plays football, they tackle each other, that’s just the name of the game.

‘How can you get that upset to chase him and not only chase him but curse at him while you’re chasing him.’

It was the first game of the season for peewee football club Southside Ravens who were up against the North West Gorillas.

Ivan told the broadcaster that the boy he tackled had behaved in stark contrast to his mother and that he accepted the tackle in a sportsmanlike way.

‘Yeah, I picked him up and everything,’ said Flanagan.

‘He was actually trying to shake my hand after the play until his mom I guess started chasing after me.’

Despite being a good sport, the boy along with his mother and family have been banned from attending further games.

He and his mother were also removed from the North West Gorillas team.

The woman has been fined $200 while the league will have to pay $500 for not controlling the sideline.

North West Gorillas released a statement on Facebook apologizing to the Ravens and Flanagan.

‘First and foremost, we would like to apologize to the parents of the young man that was unnecessarily chased across the field by a parent that was a part of our organization,’ it read.

‘In no way shape or form is that okay nor is it tolerated. We have since removed both parent and children from NWG as we don’t stand with putting nobody’s child in harm’s way.’

The post went on to talk about the ‘highly emotionally’ nature of the game adding that the safety of children at these games is the primary concern.

‘Although we cannot control anyone else’s actions/emotions we want to take accountability for our behavior as a whole, what part it played and how it was displayed at yesterday’s event,’ it read.

‘Despite the behavior that was displayed by the opponent team, there was no reason that it escalated to that degree or manner.

‘We are sincerely regretful on how this has affected everyone in and outside of our organization.

‘We appreciate all our dedicated parents who are continuously riding for us.

Again, we want to deeply apologize to the family and especially the young man.’

Houston police are also looking into the incident.
