A dashcam captured the horrific moment a Massachusetts officer was dragged about 30 feet by a Mercedes-Benz CLS550 after the suspect tried to flee during a routine traffic stop on Wednesday.
Troopers were able to track down the suspect, Derek Lobo, 31, in Brockton Thursday morning and take him into custody.
Officers had arrested Lobo for unspecified violations before the incident around 6 p.m., according to a news release. The video shows an officer leaning into the car and talking to the driver.
Nine seconds into the 30-second clip, his partner realizes the suspect is trying to escape. The partner tried to grab the officer from the car.
However, the officer clung to the car and tried to stay with it as it drove away.

About ten meters away, the officer is forced to release his grip and is thrown into oncoming traffic. He escaped with minor injuries
Ultimately, the officer has to release his grip and falls into the road against oncoming traffic, sustaining minor injuries.
He ran back to his cruiser as the two officers began their pursuit as Lobo, police said.
According to the M.S.P., the officer caught in the video was the same officer who arrested Lobo.
Lobo is charged with assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and trafficking in fentanyl.
After appearing in Brockton District Court on Friday, Lobo was held on $5,000 bail. It is not clear whether he has an attorney. He is being held at the Bristol County House of Correction.
