NHL stars Trent Frederic and Andreas Englund dropped the gloves and exchanged fist bumps as tempers flared in the Boston Bruins’ 4-2 victory over the LA Kings on Saturday night.
Bruins forward Frederic was first heard telling Englund, a defenseman for the Kings, during the game in Los Angeles: “I’m going with you. Hi! If you want, you can come with me.’
The pair then put down their sticks, removed their gloves and faced each other before exchanging blows, with Frederic landing two brutal right hooks and leaving his opponent’s face bloodied.
When they finally grabbed each other’s jerseys, the officials intervened to separate them before play continued.
The 25-year-old Frederic is currently in his fourth season as a Bruins regular, having played primarily for their Providence Bruins development team following the end of his college career at Wisconsin in 2018.

Englund joined the Kings this offseason, with the 27-year-old putting pen to paper on a two-year, $2 million contract.
The Bruins then claimed victory at Crypto.com Arena after Brad Marchand scored twice and David Pastrnak added three points to become the first Boston player in 21 years with a goal in each of the first four games.
It marked the third time in Marchand’s 15-year career that he scored a point in each of the Bruins’ first four games; with three goals and as many assists. He scored Boston’s last two goals and had an assist in the first period.
Pastrnak, who finished second in the league with 61 goals last season, had a goal and two assists. He is the first Bruins player since Dimitri Kvartalnov in 1992-93 to open the season with a goal in four straight games.
Pastrnak is off to another fast start with five goals and eight points.
Morgan Geekie scored the go-ahead goal in the second period for the Bruins, who are off to their first 4-0 start since 1990-91.
‘I think we’ve become more physical. We have brought emotion into our game. And then I think we just wore out the back of the net,” Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said.
“We kept the pucks. I think we really saw the type of team we think we can be.”
