LeBron James expressed surprise that he was older than Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy moments after scoring his 39,000th point in the Lakers’ big win on Tuesday night.
When asked if it felt “weird” to be older than the 35-year-old head coach, James, 39, initially responded, “I’m older than who?”
“Utah’s head coach,” the Spectrum SportsNet reporter replied.
Shocked by what he had just been told, James took a moment to come up with his own response.
“Wow…phew…oh my god,” he said before rubbing his head with his left hand. “It doesn’t even matter.

In disbelief, James reiterates how “crazy” it is that he is indeed older than someone managing an NBA team, before bursting into laughter.
The NBA’s all-time leading scorer had 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting in the Laker’s 131-99 win over the Jazz on Tuesday night. He nearly scored a double-double in 24 minutes of action, but fell one assist short.

James also collected seven rebounds against Utah.
The Lakers will look to keep some of their No. 23 minutes for the postseason should they make it, as James has averaged 33.6 minutes for LA so far this year – just 4 .4 minutes less than his career average (38.0). .
He’s showing no signs of slowing down either, as he’s averaging 25.7 points per game this season, just 1.5 points shy of his 20-year average.
The Lakers will face the Dallas Mavericks at home on Wednesday night. On Saturday night they will take on LeBron’s old team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
