David Warner was given a hero's send-off as the Australian star headed to the SCG for his last ever Test match.
Warner, 37, was treated to a guard of honor from the Pakistan team as he took the field of play on Wednesday, with the experienced opener bowing out from red-ball cricket on his own terms.
The ebullient Australian was brought into bat at the end of day one after Pat Cummins and his bowlers had bowled the tourists for 313 and capped proceedings with an unbeaten six-run knock.
As he made his way to the field, Warner was hugged by fellow opener Usman Khawaja – who was by his side for much of his illustrious career – before taking to the grass alone.
Waiting for him was the Pakistan team, which formed a tunnel for the 37-year-old. Several players patted him on the back as he made his way, while others clapped.
Warner looked emotional as he realized the significance of the moment.
