Watch Scotland fans hilariously grapple with dilemma – would they trade getting out of the group if it meant England winning Euro 2024?

Scotland fans were left with a dilemma after being asked by Mail Sport whether they would swap Steve Clarke’s side to reach the knockout stages if it meant England won the 2024 European Championship.

Mail Sport put the question to members of the Tartan Army, who follow the Scottish team in large numbers in Germany.

Fans were asked for their reaction after Scotland’s 1-1 draw with Switzerland on Wednesday night, a result that keeps their hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.

A victory for Scotland over Hungary on Sunday could take the national team to the knockout stages for the first time.

However, supporters remained divided over whether they would reach the last 16 if it meant Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions would come out on top in Germany.

Some Scotland supporters insisted it would be a transaction they would not be willing to accept.

“Oh, there’s no way,” replied one Scotland fan, while his friend added: “Even if we make progress you’ll never win it anyway.”

‘Never, never, never should we hear about ’66 for f*** sake’ again.

Another replied: ‘Absolutely not, no, I’d rather jump in Cleland’s river.’

Others were more open to the prospect of it seeing Scotland reach the knockout stages for the first time.

“Yes, because that is progress for Scotland,” someone replied when asked the question.

One member of the Tartan Army admitted they were relaxed about the prospect of England potentially winning the tournament as they have other plans for the final in Berlin on July 14.

“Yes, because I’m on holiday when the final is there, so I won’t know anything anyway if England win,” said the fan.

Scotland’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages remain alive after their 1-1 draw with Switzerland on Wednesday.

Clarke’s side bounced back from a 5-1 defeat in their opening match against Germany, with Scott McTominay’s deflected effort putting Scotland ahead in the first half.

A stunning effort from Xherdan Shaqiri got Switzerland back on level terms in the 26th minute, with both teams drawing 1-1 in the Group A match.

Scotland are third in the group, ahead of Sunday’s opponents Hungary, who were defeated in their first two matches.

Supporters remain optimistic about Scotland’s hopes of reaching the last 16, with the top four third-placed teams also able to advance.

‘We have a chance, we kept it alive. We got through that, maybe we could have won, but we are still alive for Sunday. Absolutely,” one fan told Mail Sport.

“Steve Clarke said before the campaign that we needed four points and today we got there. We have to go to Hungary to get the three points and then we are done.’

Another added: ‘Same again, starting tonight. Come on, get in their faces and let’s do it.’
