The 35-year-old man could not keep his composure and lost his composure for a minute. He threw his golf club into the water right in front of him. The crowd remained silent in shock and splashed into the water.
The four-time major champion was still clearly irritated, but nevertheless walked to the shore to retrieve his golf club from the water.

For a moment it looked like things were going to go from bad to worse. When he returned from picking up his driver, he nearly slid down again.
Fortunately, he recovered in time and was able to give the found golf club to his caddy before walking away to take his shot in the rough.
McIlroy has disappointed this week. Before he mishit the 17th, he bogeyed his par-3, leaving him back at 1 under after the 16th hole.
However, the man from Co. Down managed to recover somewhat as he hit par on the 17th and 18th to record a score of 71.
The Northern Irishman is now ten strokes behind leader Australia’s Adam Scott and has plenty of work to do today if he is to secure victory.

This summer has been a tough one for McIlroy, as he came astonishingly close to winning his fifth major golf tournament. Instead, he finished second to Bryson DeChambeau at the US Open.
After missing two putts in the closing stages of the match, he handed DeChambeau the title.
McIlroy did not reach the final of The Open, but finished just outside the medal table at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where he finished fifth.
