Elon Musk gave Donald Trump the side-eye after the president-elect asked if a rocket booster could be reused despite it crashing into the water like a fireball.
Trump’s eldest grandchild Kait, 17, has begun to provide more insight into the president-elect’s daily activities — posting a video to X from last week’s Texas SpaceX launch.
‘Watching a rocket launch at SpaceX with Elon Musk!’ she captioned a nearly twelve-minute video with a clip of her doing a version of Trump’s YMCA rally dance.
An aggravated Musk was visibly frustrated seven and a half minutes into the video as he tried to explain how the destroyed booster could not be reused after falling into the Gulf of Mexico.
“We had some concerns about the tower, so it was ordered to land at sea,” Musk tells a pouting Trump, 78, in the video posted by Kai.
‘Can they use that again? Can they get it from the sea?’ Trump asked as he stood next to Musk and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
Musk appears to do a double-take before responding, “Uhh, it’s going to… it’s probably going to blow up.” I think so.’
Just four minutes after launch last Tuesday, the mission director ordered the booster to crash into the Gulf of Mexico on a bad day for SpaceX operations.

The CEO of SpaceX, Tesla and X has worked to cut the cost of each Starship flight in half by making boosters reusable.
But it is understood the fireball from a rocket booster could not be reused after it crashed in the Gulf last week.
Kai also posted a photo of himself with Trump and Musk with a video of the rocket launch, writing, “What an incredible experience!”
Musk, 53, has been at Trump’s side almost 24/7 since the November 5 election.
The two have been seen walking through Mar-a-Lago, dining together and strategizing during meetings at Trump’s residence in Palm Beach, Florida.
Earlier this month, Kai posted a photo on the golf course at her grandfather’s golf club in West Palm Beach with Musk and his son X Æ A-Xii (pronounced “Ex Ash A 12”) and said the billionaire had “uncle status” reaches.
When Trump announced his new Cabinet and administration selections, he unveiled a new temporary agency called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Musk and 2024 primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
Trump joined Musk at the launch last week. At times, Musk seemed irritated with the president-elect for asking questions about the inability to maintain the booster when it turned into a fireball and fell into the Gulf of Mexico.

Based on his X account activity, Musk agrees that Trump is his new best friend, writing on his social media platform that they are “basically best friends.”
Musk’s mother Maye frowned on the couple’s relationship during an interview Tuesday on the Fox Business program Varney & Co.
“Of course I saw them together, but very briefly,” she noted. “I live in New York, and they’re doing a Mar-a-Lago or (a) SpaceX launch, and they just seem to be having fun. Very nice.’
“And it’s fun for both of them to have fun, and (Elon) really respects him a lot and is very happy that there is a future for America now,” she concluded of her son’s friendship.
