This is the wild moment an Italian coach was shown one of the most bizarre red cards in football history after running onto the pitch and tackling a player to stop an attack.
Subbiano manager Alessio Guidotti found himself in hot water after a moment of madness during his team’s sixth-tier match against Pontassieve this weekend.
When a Pontassieve attacker tried to charge towards goal, the coach came out of his dugout and cut him down, after which he tried to apologise.
The barely believable footage has gone viral on social media and it becomes even more baffling when Guidotti tries to excuse his actions before being sent off.
The tactician, dressed in a bright orange bib, held his arms in the air, apparently in a desperate attempt to protest the dismissal that was awaiting him.

Unsurprisingly, several Pontassieve players gathered around him in anger, forcing the linesman to step forward and break up the group before tensions could escalate.
After the match, Pontassieve coach Marco Guidi condemned Guidotti’s decision.
“I especially sympathise with Subbiano because it is a famous and respectful club,” he told local media.
‘Their coach’s attitude was tarnished and affected the outcome of the match, as we were playing two against one.’
Subbiano himself also gave a statement about the incident and was immediately critical of Guidotti’s loss of control.
“The club deeply regrets what happened during Pontassieve-Subbiano,” the spokesman said.

‘Some incidents should never happen, and we are certainly the first to be angry about them.
‘On Sundays we are all football fans who come to watch matches with passion.
‘Gaining an advantage in this way is unfair and deserves punishment, as has already happened in part.
‘At the same time, we are convinced that it was not an incident of violence, and we are even more convinced that our coach, Guidotti, is the first to regret it.
“There’s not much to add. We hope the tone remains low, because it’s as unpleasant as the incident itself.”
