Washington mom reveals horrifying agony waiting for cops to locate missing 14-year-old Emma Liudahl after an Amber Alert is issued

A mother is expressing her relief after her 14-year-old daughter, who was the subject of an Amber Alert, was found safe.

“Thank God my baby was found safe,” Rachel Carr told DailyMail.com on Monday afternoon, shortly after her daughter was found.

Emma Liudahl was last seen in the 3800 block of Curtis Drive on Saturday around 3 p.m. in the Pasco, Washington area. Early Monday morning, an Amber Alert was issued by West Richland police, who were searching for the teen and the suspect, identified as Roger Perez-Osario.

By noon, nearly 48 hours after her disappearance, Liudahl was found by a Seattle police officer who recognized her photo from the Amber Alert. She was found alone at the Space Needle, WRP and PIO commander Mitchell Coates told DailyMail.com.

Perez-Osario turned himself in to police and now officials say charges are pending.

Emma’s mother said Monday afternoon she was on her way to Burien to pick up her daughter at the police station, about a four-hour drive from their home.

‘I haven’t spoken to her. The police had not spoken to her when they told me I had to go. I’m on my way. I guess they’re getting all the information now,” Carr said.

Police say it is unclear whether the girl suffered any trauma during the ordeal. She was taken by a suspect she did not know. Authorities are planning a forensic interview with the teen to learn more about her case.

Before she was found safe, Carr said she was last spoke to her daughter on Saturday around 2.35pm and said she sounded ‘completely normal’.

She said her daughter had gone for a walk and left their home on Dallas Road in their West Richland community.

‘She asked my permission if she could go. “She had been sick the week before and locked herself away and after doing chores with me she asked if she could go for a walk and I said yes,” Carr said.

Then she got the terrifying news that her daughter was seen with a man in Pasco at 6 p.m.

She joined many in the community in searching for her teenage daughter, telling others to “keep sharing and searching for her daughter.”

“See something, say something,” she said.

An Amber Alert was issued at 6 a.m. Central Standard Time on Monday.

The sergeant explained that Amber Alert wasn’t activated until early Monday, almost 48 hours, because, he said, it “didn’t meet the criteria until we learned an unknown male was involved.”

Emma’s mother said the original date on the Amber Alert was incorrect. The police said Friday was the day she went missing, even though it was Saturday.

As she went to reunite with her daughter, Carr expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped in the search.

“Thank you for your caring and thank you to everyone who is helping,” Carr told DailyMail.com. “The outpouring from our community and beyond has been tremendous and that is what will bring her safely home to us.”
