Washington DC’s BMI Airport was closed as police launched an investigation.
People trying to get to the airport said they were blocked in traffic – while others inside the terminal said they were unable to leave.

The airport said in a statement: ‘Due to a law enforcement investigation, the terminal road is temporarily closed. Vehicular traffic approaching the airport is currently being held up.
“Those in the terminal are advised to remain in place at this time.”

All trains on the Maryland Transit and Light Rail service will not stop at the airport. Instead, Light Rail service at Cromwell Station will be terminated until further notice.
It is currently unclear what prompted the investigation.
