Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera fired defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio following the team’s Thanksgiving loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
The Commanders were hammered 45-10 by the Cowboys on Thursday at AT&T Stadium, dropping them to 4-8.
In the midst of a dismal season, the loss seemed to be the final straw for Rivera as the team announced the resignation of Del Rio, along with defensive line coach Brent Vieselmeyer.
“Today I have relieved Jack Del Rio and Brent Vieselmeyer of their duties,” River confirmed in a statement on Friday. “I appreciate everything they have contributed to the organization over the past four seasons and wish them all the best for the future.”
