Warzone developers apologize for major issues at Season 1 Reloaded launch that fell short of studio’s ‘high standards’

Raven Software, the developers of the standalone Duty battle royale War zonehas apologized for the issues many players have experienced following the arrival of the game’s most recent update.

The update, titled Season 1 Reloaded, brings a host of new changes and benefits to the popular free-to-play game. It also adds a number of new weapons, not to mention additional modes and quests for players to tackle. Unfortunately, some players have experienced quite a few issues since the update launched on January 17, 2024.

This included a super frustrating bug that prevented players from getting past the main menu. However, things didn’t seem to fare much better for those who managed to actually participate in a match, as there were also numerous graphical issues with the game’s environments, such as unpleasant visual flickering when players tried to equip equipment.

Fortunately, the studio has done its best to acknowledge these issues in no time recent Twitter post that further explains why some bugs occurred. “We have laid the groundwork for the return of a number of popular features in future seasons, which required a degree of preemption in our live environment,” the post reads.

“Yesterday’s update shipped with some of that work, and we unfortunately encountered a conflict between live player data and our servers. Our teams were immediately notified of the issues and began investigating shortly after the update went live. We have brought together studio teams from around the world to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.”

The post also apologizes for the disruption, saying the studio “holds itself to a high standard, and yesterday’s issues did not reflect that.” You can read the full message below:

While it’s obviously hugely disappointing that a major update has been launched in such a dire state, this level of transparency is greatly appreciated and sets a good precedent for the future.
