Australian parents have been urged to keep an eye on their heaters after a toddler was set alight.
The two-year-old had been standing in front of his family’s gas heater for less than a minute when his onesie suddenly burst into flames.
His mother said she’d been in the bathroom at the time but luckily her husband smelled something burning.
‘My son didn’t even feel that he was on fire, my husband smelt it, saw the flame and quickly responded,’ the parent said.

‘He was in front of it for less than 30 seconds before catching fire!’
The horrified mother shared a photo of her son’s pyjamas that had a huge hole burnt through the back onto Tiny Hearts Education’s Instagram page – a first aid organisation for Aussie parents.
Parents have been urged to make sure their gas heaters are serviced every two years.
Any flammable materials should also be kept at least one metre away, and parents must ensure their children keep their distance.
Australians must also remember to turn off their heaters when they go to sleep.
