A man has been charged with allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a nine-year-old girl as she walked to school in a Perth suburb.
Ryan Ashley Darken, 37, has been hit with four charges following the Warnbro incident in the south of the city, including detaining another with intent to prevent/interfere with a person committing an act, deprivation of liberty and assault.
A parent from the school is said to have seen the girl get into a silver ute around 8:45 a.m. on Friday before she was later found in distress outside a nearby supermarket, barefoot and with zip ties on her hands.
The parent who allegedly witnessed the girl getting into the ute was immediately suspicious and alerted the school, leading to a major police operation when her whereabouts could not be explained.
Darken will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday.
