Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s planned public beta has been canceled – ‘it would prevent development teams from preparing for full launch’

The planned public beta session for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been canceled by developer Saber Interactive.

Announced in a official steam postthe studio revealed that this move was intended to focus resources on getting the game polished for launch in September of this year.”Space Navy 2 is almost ready. We are now fully focused on optimization, polishing and resolving remaining issues ahead of the September 9 launch,” the announcement said. “This means we will not be running a public online beta as this would distract the development teams from preparing for the full launch, and our priority is to ensure the best possible experience at release.”

To soften the blow for those who had already signed up, players who signed up before June 28, 2024 will receive a limited-edition Bolt Pistol skin.

Not long ago, Saber Interactive published an official gameplay reveal video, in which we saw a slew of weapons, a brilliant presentation of the Warhammer 40K aesthetic, and a closer look at the game modes. This has really whetted our appetite for the game and we’re as excited as ever.

However, reactions to the public beta have been mixed. Some fans speculate that the developers are simply prioritizing keeping the (Thunder) hammer down to launch the game in its best state, while others think this is a red flag and an indication that the game is in bad shape at the moment stands for.

Either way, now that the public beta has been removed from the game’s launch roadmap, all we can do for now is look forward to its September 9, 2024 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
