Wardell crash NSW: Four people dead in horror single-vehicle crash after car left the road and rolled

Three men and a woman were killed in a single-vehicle accident.

Shortly after 5.45am (Saturday 24 February 2024), emergency services were called to Back Channel Road, Wardell, south of Ballina in northern NSW, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Richmond Police District attended and located a blue Mazda BT50 pipe that had left the carriageway and rolled.

The male driver and three passengers – two men and a woman – died at the scene.

A crime scene was established while specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.

Road closures are in force and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
