War between OTT and telecom companies drives COAI to track data use

The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has asked leading Indian telecom companies, including Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, to provide detailed data on the amount of bandwidth on their networks consumed by the four major users: Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Netflix.

SP Kochar, Director General, COAI confirmed the move and said the aim is to bring the information into the public domain for all stakeholders and also for the government.
