Wally Lewis looked dapper as he took to the stage with his new partner Lynda Adams at the NRL Hall of Fame ceremony in Sydney on Wednesday night.

The 64-year-old Queenslander was in attendance when Ron Coote joined him as Immortal after the South Sydney Rabbitohs legend’s status was elevated at the SCG.

Lewis looked handsome in a navy jacket with the immortal’s emblem, black trousers and black shoes, while Lynda wore a glamorous black dress and sequined shoes.

The couple have been dating for over three years and their relationship was revealed shortly after Lewis split from his wife of 36 years, Jacqueline.

Lewis confirmed in February 2021 that he had separated from his wife and the mother of his three children.

“This is a very personal matter that we do not wish to discuss in public,” he said.

“I want to acknowledge the pain and sadness my family has been through since Jacqui and I separated last year. I hope that over time we can mend our ties and move on with our lives.”

It later emerged that he was in a new relationship with Adams, a volunteer at the Sands Miscarriage, Stillbirth, and Newborn Death Support Group in Townsville.

Adams had recently separated from her husband, property developer Mark Adams, when she met Lewis.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Lewis’ new relationship caused the rugby legend’s three children to turn against him.

The newspaper, citing a source close to the family, claimed that Lewis’s adult children, Mitchell, Jamie-Lee and Lincoln, felt compelled to side with their distraught mother and stopped speaking to their father.

The Emperor of Lang Park is perhaps the greatest Queensland Origin legend of all time. He captained the Maroons in 30 of his 31 State of Origin appearances and coached them in 1993 and 1994.

Lewis was named the sixth member of ‘The Immortals’ in 1999 and was named in the Kangaroos’ team and Queensland’s team of the century. He was the obvious choice to become the Broncos’ first ever captain.

After retirement he had a successful media career at Channel Seven and then Channel Nine, which he joined in 1999.

In 2023, he announced that he would step down as a sports newsreader due to health problems.
