- Kurtley Beale, 35, is considering a move to rugby league
- Says he ‘has always been an admirer of the code’
- Beale was recently found not guilty of sexual assault
Wallabies star Kurtley Beale is considering a shock move to rugby league as he looks to put a horror 12 months behind him.
Beale, 35, was last week found not guilty of charges he sexually assaulted a woman in the bathroom of a Bondi bar after a grueling two-week trial.
Beale faced a jury trial at Sydney’s Downing Center Court after pleading not guilty to sexual intercourse without consent and two charges of sexual touching.
It marks the end of a year-long court battle for Beale after he was withdrawn from the NSW Waratahs by Rugby Australia following his arrest in January 2023.
Beale has not played footy since the charges but now says he is open to a code switch.

“It’s a possibility,” he said Nine news.
‘I have always been a great admirer of competition. Growing up in Mt Druitt I would always watch the league on the weekends and take little bits of different players to add to my game.
‘There is interest in that, in both codes.’
Beale says he has stayed in good shape by training with renowned sprint coach Roger Fabri.
“For 12 months there has been no other interference,” Fabri said.
“He’s been able to focus on being an athlete without any bumps, bruises or injuries.
“He’s moving the fire now.”

Beale is keen to focus on his wife Maddie and his new baby after the toughest year of his life.
“I think overall I’m just relieved, now I can put the past year behind me,” he said.
‘There are certainly mistakes that I am not proud of. It is a huge effort for me to become a better person in the future.
“I’m not a perfect person, but I will do everything I can to take the right steps forward in the relationships I have in my life.”
