- Customers can purchase only one bag of Gummy Mango peelable candies
- The restriction only applies to online sales, the retail chain has confirmed
- Candy went viral on TikTok, but online reviews are mixed
Walgreens has been forced to limit sales of its own-brand ‘peel-off’ candy after it went viral on TikTok.
Customers can now purchase just one bag of Gummy Mango peel-off candies when shopping online, the retailer has confirmed.
The candy is part of Walgreens’ Nice! brand and retails for $1.99 both in-store and online. There is also a pineapple flavor to the treat.
It comes after content creator Trinh Carreon shared a video about the peel-off sweets in January, which racked up 8.9 million views and thousands of comments.
Marty Esarte, vice president of Walgreens private brands, told USA Today, “We are very excited about the popularity of Nice! Mango gummy candy.
Content creator Trinh Carreon shared a video about the peel-off candy in January, which received 8.9 million views and thousands of comments.
“Due to the success of the item, we are currently expanding stock of our mango item to 8,000 stores on May 22.”
The candy was first released in 2,500 stores last fall. After Carreon’s review went viral in January, it sold out nationwide within days.
Carreon, from the Bay Area, has 1.4 million followers and regularly reviews food on her profile.
She gave the Gummy Mango candies eight out of ten stars, adding, “This is so fun. This is so much fun to eat.”
A viewer claiming to be a Walgreens employee commented, “The amount of people coming in asking for this is crazy.”
Another response read: “I can’t find it at my Walgreens.”
A third said: ‘I can’t find them anywhere, not even for shipping. I checked all the Walgreens near me and there are none available.”
However, not everyone seems convinced. On the Walgreens website, the product has an average rating of just 2.8 out of five stars.

Another wrote, “I was excited when I saw them on the shelf at the Walgreens where I work. I brought a few bags because everyone wanted to try them.
‘It was a huge waste of money! They say you can peel them…well they are super sticky and make a mess.
‘They smell like mango, but don’t taste like mango at all. They’re super dirty.’
