- Foul-handling became a problem for England as Wales impressed at home
Wales recovered to fight back against England in the second half to claim a 20-9 victory over their fierce rivals at the Principality Stadium in a hard-fought Rugby World Cup warm-up clash.
Marcus Smith kicked England into a first-half lead at the Principality Stadium as the visitors were awarded a series of penalties, largely due to their dominance over Wales in scrums.
Steve Borthwick’s side led by three at half-time, but Wales would quickly punish their visitors, establishing rapid dominance through two sparkling tries.
Gareth Davies completed a first try just six minutes after the restart after being played over the line with a pass from Wales skipper Jac Morgan that gave the scrum-half an easy finish. Leigh Halfpenny converted with ease.
Then it was George North’s turn to loosen up England’s defense and Dan Biggar’s glutton couldn’t have fallen better into the hands of Halfpenny and two stages later Wales were back on the line.
