The car burglary happened around 3:30 p.m. while Prince was attending an event for domestic violence victims near 27th Street and Telegraph Avenue. Price was told by police to report the crime online to avoid having to wait for an officer to arrive.

An Oakland Police Department source reported that Price waited an hour for authorities to arrive before deciding to file a report online.
The public prosecutor has not yet responded to the alleged theft.
Oakland police have confirmed that several people were involved in the district attorney’s laptop burglary.
On the police website there is the option to report a crime online.
‘Do not file a report online if you need immediate help. If you need help now, please call 9-1-1,” the website said.
It also added that the online tool is used to report a ‘non-urgent crime’.
Price was elected in 2022 and has since represented victims of sexual assault, retaliation, wrongful termination, religion, disability and more. An Oct. 24 press release indicated that Price would be at the event Friday because she herself is a survivor of domestic violence.
“My office is committed to seeking justice on behalf of the victims,” Price said in the news release.
George Soros, a billionaire investor and philanthropist, funded Price $130,000 and gave her boyfriend a six-figure position in her office, according to The Washington Free Beacon.
The Oakland DA was elected in 2022 and has been widely criticized as the crime rate has risen rapidly in Oakland and the entire Bay Area
Oakland has experienced a high number of crimes, including vehicle smashing and store smashing
Price has faced criticism as crime in the community has soared.
Oakland’s NAACP leaders called for a state of emergency in August due to rising crime rates, attributing it to the defunding of the police movement and Price.
The Black advocacy group wrote a letter addressed directly to Price.
“Failed leadership, including the movement to defund the police, the unwillingness of our district attorney to charge and prosecute people who commit murder and life-threatening serious crimes, and the proliferation of anti-police rhetoric have created a heyday for criminals from Oakland,” the letter said. said.
“If there are no consequences for committing crimes in Oakland, crime will continue to rise.”
Her office responded, saying Price was “disappointed that a great African American pastor and a great African American organization would have a false narrative on such an important issue.”
In March, Price had also pushed to reduce jail terms and prison terms for criminals, including murderers.
The Berkely scanner revealed in a leaked Almeda County memo that the district attorney circulated in her office that she hoped to reduce recidivism and bring back a balanced sentence.
Price joins a national movement of progressives seeking to reduce mass incarceration and pursue reform at the county level by seeking seats for the top prosecutor.
Price also said she would sentence people to life without parole and prosecute police misconduct.

In January, a car burglary occurred in a busy parking lot in Oakland, near an airport. The suspect pulled up in an SUV, quickly opened the trunk of another car and stole a backpack
Oakland has been plagued by car burglaries in recent years, including one that occurred in a busy parking lot near an airport in which a man’s trunk was broken into while he was in the vehicle.
The suspect gets out of a Cadillac XT6 before going to the back of the victim’s Buick Envision SUV, popping open the trunk and grabbing a backpack before driving away.
Tyson Wrensch was behind the wheel of the rented car when it all went wrong.
“I’m in my car, I should be safe. And then you see him reach down and press that little button underneath,” Wrensch said KTVU.
Wrensch initially thought he accidentally pressed the trunk button when it happened, and it wasn’t until hours later that he noticed his backpack had been taken.
His laptop, passport and documents were in the stolen bag.
Just days later, the same Cadillac returned to the parking lot and stole from Wrensch’s rental car again.
Another car incident in Oakland involved a family stopping for coffee on their way to Oakland International Airport.
A gang of men in an SUV pulled up to the family’s car and raided it right in front of them.
The thieves broke through the rear window of the car and stole the luggage in the car before calling the police, who never showed up, according to the victims.
