Waitrose gets a boost as Duchy Organic sales soar ahead of the Coronation

Waitrose is getting a much-needed boost as Duchy Organic sales soar ahead of the coronation

Sales of Duchy Organic are soaring ahead of King Charles III’s coronation this Saturday, giving Waitrose a much-needed boost.

The brand is a collaboration between the supermarket and Duchy Originals Limited, a company founded in 1990 by the King.

“We are seeing strong demand for Duchy Coronation products,” said a Waitrose spokesperson. ‘Our customers especially like products that can be kept as souvenirs, such as the Duchy shortbread mould.’

Waitrose, which is owned by the John Lewis Partnership, added that searches for Duchy recipes on its website have skyrocketed.

“Searches for Duchy banana and raisin tea bread are up 42 percent from the same week last year and searches for Duchy Golden Ale and dark chocolate cake are up 127 percent,” the spokesperson said.

Duchy Originals was founded by the King when he was Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall as a way to sell organic produce from his farm.

Duchy’s deal with Waitrose was signed in 2010 and it is the largest organic food and drink brand in the UK.
