Long lines are by far the worst part of any theme park experience. So it’s no wonder that theme parks have found ways to make big bucks off of parkgoers who just want to skip the line — it can be a drag. But now, Roblox players are leaning into the experience of waiting in line at theme parks. In a new trend on TikTok, users are sharing clips of themselves playing Universal Roblox Theme Park, which equates to waiting in virtual lines in the game.
Roblox is a platform that allows users to play, share, and create games. It is filled with tons of promotional games for various brands, including Universal Roblox Theme Park. The game lets players explore a virtual recreation of the Universal Parks. It’s not the most detailed recreation — certain areas of the park have been renamed, such as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter now being called the “Wizarding Village,” possibly for licensing reasons — but it does recreate certain aspects of the park experience. Most notably, you can ride some of the biggest attractions, check the wait time, wait, and then “ride” a first-person Roblox remake of the attraction.
Instead of showing gameplay of the roller coasters, players share videos of standing in the virtual lines.
TikTok user Mandee shared a video showing a line for the virtual Spider-Man ride based on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. The clip shows a number of avatars in a long line that snakes around metal guardrails. The text above the clip reads: “How many aura points do I lose if I wait 20 minutes to go on the new Spider-Man ride at Universal Roblox.”
Another user shared a similar video takes viewers to The Mummy ride. Or, the line. In it, you see the avatars standing in a line and the text over the video says, “i’m actually 18 years old waiting in line to go on the Roblox Universal Mummy Ride.”
The funniest part of all this is that standing in line is completely optional. Once you’re in line, the game pulls up a button that lets you skip the line and just go on the ride. It’s a virtual world, so everyone can go in at the same time if they want. But hey, that would ruin the immersion of the experience, since everyone knows that standing in line is an unavoidable part of any theme park.
