Brave cop, 28, who was hit by car and dragged under allegedly stolen car, dies tragically after four days in hospital with his family forced to go off life support – as a young woman is charged

- Fellow officers had to lift the car off him and try to resuscitate
A Western Australian police officer has died after being run over and dragged under a car during an arrest.
Constable Anthony Woods and other officers followed the car, reportedly with stolen number plates, through Ascot in eastern Perth at around 1am on Thursday.
It came to a stop and as officers attempted to detain the three occupants, Constable Woods was struck by the vehicle and dragged underneath.
Police said his fellow officers had to lift the car off him and perform CPR on the scene before he was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
The 28-year-old was in an artificial coma at the Royal Perth Hospital for three days, but WA police confirmed on Sunday evening that he had succumbed to his injuries.

“Our thoughts and prayers are all with Anthony’s family and colleagues,” police said in a statement.
Reagan Ainsley Chown, 23, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday after being charged in the incident.
He faces multiple felonies, including committing an act intended to avoid arrest that caused grievous bodily harm and driving recklessly to escape police pursuit.
He was not required to enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear in court again on July 7.
Police said a 20-year-old woman and 25-year-old man who were detained after they were also reportedly in the stolen car have been released pending further inquiries.
