An interior designer has revealed the three things you should never have in your home if you want to avoid looking cheap.
The expert, of inner vibeHe said loose electronic cords, cheap shiny pillows with inspirational quotes, and mass-produced art make his home “look tacky” and should be avoided.
The first thing he mentioned was the cable clutter of visible cables leaking from different electronic devices, he recommends hiding cables in special covers.
The expert said loose electronic cords, bold/quote patterned pillows, and mass-produced art can make your home “look cheap.”
If possible you can run the cables through the wall and if not you can get a small carrying case from Amazon. Much better,’ she said.
She also doesn’t like pillows with inspirational quotes, like the ones with phrases like “live, laugh, love.”
One of his biggest annoyances is mass-produced artwork, because he says everyone has the same pieces.
“When you’re looking for artwork, look for something a little more original, something that not everyone has,” he said.
The expert received so much attention in the clip that she uploaded a second video with more things that make people’s houses ‘look cheap’.
The first thing he mentioned was lighting, explaining that both outdated light fixtures and exposed LED lighting can make a room look cheap.
The last mistake that people make with their houses is to place works of art that’s ‘too small for space’.
He recommended trying to create a focal point with artwork instead.
The expert said that both outdated light fixtures and exposed LED lighting (pictured) can also make a room look cheap.
However, some of his followers were outraged by the list of “cheap” everyday items, of which many people admitted to owning at least one.
“Let people be happy with what they want and can afford,” said one upset fan.
‘What if I’m cheap?’ asked a woman.
“Things that make my house look cheap: no money,” another quipped.
“If it makes you happy then it ain’t cheap,” said another.
However, other people appreciated the advice and encouraged others to take it into account as well.
“Anyone who hates this video definitely has ‘live laugh love’ on a pillow in their house,” one woman said.
