  • The Vice President Refused to Tell Her: 'Right Now I'm Speaking'

Kamala Harris was heckled during a holiday speech at her home by a Democratic lawmaker demanding a ceasefire in Gaza.

The vice president was addressed by Delaware Rep. Madinah Wilson-Anton, who unfurled a banner reading “armistice” during Monday's meeting.

Harris was speaking at her and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff's home at the US Naval Observatory in Washington, DC, where they were hosting festivities for government officials, when she was interrupted.

“Madam Vice President, I am a representative from Delaware. Did you know that they don't celebrate Christmas in Bethlehem? Did you know that the baby Jesus is buried under the rubble in Bethlehem? Why not call for a ceasefire?' Wilson-Anton yelled at Harris.

The vice president fired back, “I appreciate you wanting to be heard, but right now I'm speaking.”

Wilson-Anton unfurled a banner reading “armistice” before she was escorted from the US Naval Observatory in Washington, DC, where the event was held.

Wilson-Anton was then escorted from the room. She later took to X, formerly Twitter, to post a video of the incident.

The 30-year-old was elected the state's first Muslim official after being elected to the Delaware House of Representatives in 2021.

She previously worked at the Biden Institute at the University of Delaware.

Wilson-Anton joins Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) in calling for a ceasefire.

Wilson-Anton was then escorted out of the room following the outburst during Harris' speech

Her outburst comes after a group of more than 40 interns wrote an anonymous letter calling on the president and his deputy for an “immediate ceasefire” in Gaza.

The missive accused Biden and Harris of “ignoring” the “pleas of the American people.”

The White House has stopped short of calling for a full ceasefire, but has urged a humanitarian pause in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza.

According to the Ministry of Health, more than 18,000 Palestinians were killed in the bombings.

Previously, the Israeli government had agreed to a seven-day ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to Gaza and give Hamas the freedom to release hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

The temporary ceasefire expired on December 1.
