Last week, Keanu Reeves joined the upcoming Paramount sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 3, portraying the dark hedgehog character Shadow, which has gotten the stamp of approval from voice actor Jason Griffith
The character was previously voiced by Griffith in Shadow the Hedgehog in the TV series Sonic
The 43-year-old voice actor spoke with TMZ about Keanu’s casting, revealing that he thinks, “It’s a great choice.”
“Shadow is now voiced by Ted Theodore Logan, John Wick and Neo, so I think that’s pretty good company to be in,” Griffith began.
‘I personally think it is an excellent casting choice. When there were rumors about Keanu and some other actors, and people asked me who I thought it would be, I said, ‘I hope it’s Keanu,'” Griffith admitted.

“I think even his natural speaking voice lends itself so well to Shadow that it’s a good choice,” he admitted.
“Lately people have been speculating that I would play Shadow in the movie, and when I was personally asked about it, I said, ‘If so, I don’t know anything about it.’ No, I wasn’t asked that,” he admitted.
He added, “I think that’s fine because one of the many rewards you get from being in this industry is being asked to portray a character that is so beloved and means so much to so many people.”
“And then to share that character with someone like Keanu… I mean, it’s such an honor,” he added.
He continued, “Dude, if I was bitter about it, I would throw away the twenty years of career that I have because I got to be those characters.”
“And I really think they want to keep it fresh, they want to keep everything new, and it’s a changing of the guard, if you will,” Griffith added.
“Keanu, I think this is a great addition because just because he’s Keanu, he’s going to bring in such big numbers on his own,” he said.
He also gave some advice on how to voice this dark character for the sequel, which hits theaters on December 20.

“The biggest tip I would give is to just be yourself, Keanu,” Griffith concluded.
Sonic The Hedgehog 3 also stars Ben Schwartz as the title character, Idris Elba as Tails, Colleen O’Shaughnessy as Knuckles, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik and Krysten Ritter as Captain Rockwell.
