Vogue Williams had never seen husband Spencer Matthews so upset after not being invited to the wedding of ‘best friend in the world’ Jamie Laing.
McVitie’s heir Jamie, 34, married Made In Chelsea co-star Sophie Habboo, 29, earlier this month at Chelsea Registry Office in a low-key ceremony, but Spencer, 34, Vogue, 37, and their three children were strangely absent.
Best friend Spencer was then harshly criticized by fans, who claimed he had ‘disapproved’ the wedding to go on holiday, when the mistake actually came from Jamie.
The foursome sat down to clear the air and had a candid chat about the ‘miscommunication’ on Jamie and Sophie’s NearlyWeds podcast – with the groom admitting to ‘fucking it up’.
During the honest talk, Vogue admitted that in all her years of knowing Spencer, she had never seen her partner so upset about the confusion and criticism that came with it.

“He was very upset, I have to be honest, I’ve never seen him like this,” explains Vogue.
“He was really upset about something and then it got worse and worse because I saw the personalized stuff. And I thought “Oh s*** you’ve really thought about this.”‘
In response to Vogue’s claims, Jamie took full responsibility for oversight, saying, “I blew it. We had our wedding, our civil ceremony in the UK. It was a hectic process.
“In the midst of the rush of getting people out there and things like that, I thought Spencer and Vogue were gone.
Spencer got upset—which is right. So I messaged Vogue hoping to get a little support and she replied, “To be honest, Jamie, it’s not good.” And I was like f***.”
Jamie then explained that Sophie asked if Spencer and Vogue were coming to their special day, to which Jamie explained that he hadn’t sent them an invite as he knew they would be on a family holiday in Portugal.
When he finally got to Spencer, he expressed how much it hurt him.
Spencer said, “To be honest, Jamie, like you’re my best friend in the world. That’s why I think it hurt so much.

‘Like it was someone else. For your wedding – I’d fly around the world three times just to be there, because I care so much about you.”
Shortly after Spencer was absent from the wedding ceremony, he faced severe backlash from fans, who accused him of “disapproving” of his best friend’s wedding.
Jamie and Sophie did not attend Vogue and Spencer’s intimate wedding at Glen Affric, Spencer’s family estate in the Scottish Highlands, in June 2018.
They attended the couple’s wedding party in London the following year in September 2019, which was filmed for the E4 reality show Spencer, Vogue and Wedding Two.
Discussing Jamie’s wedding on the Spencer & Vogue podcastthe TV personality and his presenter wife admitted at the time that they were unhappy with the criticism leveled at them for not attending.
Spencer said, “I’m getting hammered for turning down my best friend’s wedding” for going on vacation and then posting about my vacation.
“I’m not here to bitch about my best friends, but there’s been a serious miscommunication from him.
“I just want to set things right more than anything. I’m not here to whine. I wasn’t invited to this part of Jamie’s wedding, and neither was Vogue.”
Vogue added, “Sophie looked absolutely amazing, we were absolutely thrilled for them, but we also didn’t know it was happening because we weren’t invited.”
The presenter also revealed she was ‘furious’ to miss an invitation to the Chelsea service as a scheduling conflict means she will also have to miss their second overseas ceremony in May.
She said, “I’m furious because I can’t actually go to the wedding, and it’s not my fault. My manager messed up my schedule and I actually have a show the day of Jamie’s wedding.”
The pair said they returned from their holiday abroad and were confronted with an “inbox full of messages” accusing them of “snagging” the service.
Spencer insisted that he was “turned off” not to receive an invitation, as he “would have flown to Japan” to attend.
He said, “Long story short I didn’t get the call for the wedding and about ten days ago I was with him to answer [podcast] Sixty degrees.
‘I said, can I do something for this registry? Is there anything I can do for you since I am part of this wedding and one of your best men?
And he said no, this is a very small family thing and you don’t have to do anything – no one is coming. It is small.’
Spencer says he took Jamie at his word, but was stunned when he returned from Portugal to discover published photos of the wedding showing his best friend surrounded by numerous groomsmen.
He said, “I have an inbox full of messages full of angry people saying, I’m not here. Well, I’m pretty shocked myself, to be honest, that I didn’t get a call.’
Spencer revealed that he called Jamie the next day for an explanation, and was told the shift ended up being bigger than they originally planned.
“They decided to make more of it, but I was gone, so he didn’t think about it,” he said. “And I was like, I would have flown over from Japan for that because you’re my best friend and I would have loved to be there.
“I don’t really think you made the right call to decide for me, when you could have asked and I would have come.”
Williams added: “Jamie’s got a lot going on, to be honest, and we’re not trying Jamie or Sophie in any way.
“We hope they had a great day and we wish we were there, but I really think they thought they were in Portugal, it doesn’t matter.
“I’m just furious because I could have gone to one of them. Now I can’t go to any of them.’
In their first joint interview, the couple insisted that they wouldn’t turn their marriage into a reality spin-off show because relationships have a better chance of surviving without the cameras.
Candy Kittens owner Jamie told MailOnline reality TV is “hard on the soul” and after realizing he wanted to marry former co-star Sophie, he knew his departure from Made In Chelsea was inevitable.
Jamie told MailOnline: ‘We’ve been asked to do a TV show but it’s tricky. I’ve done reality for so long and it’s hard on the soul. I don’t think TV is ever on your own terms, so unless you have control over those things, it’s kind of hard.
“It’s one of those things that you have to decide whether you want to go down the reality TV route again or not.
“Once you’re married, what happens? Are we doing another show about being married… when does it end? For now, I’ll park reality.’
