VMware by Broadcom is making more concessions to the community of cloud service providers and customers
In response to continued negative feedback from customers and partners, Broadcom has unveiled a series of new concessions tailored to the community of cloud service providers using VMware products and services.
The adjustments come amid ongoing shifts within the VMware portfolio and are intended to address concerns not only from customers, but also stakeholders.
The news is also part of a growing number of puzzle pieces being provided to customers by Broadcom, including other lifelines and comments from company executives.
Ahmar Mohammad, VMware’s VP for Partners, Managed Services, and Solutions GTM, has addressed previous commitments from CEO Hock Tan in a after to the company website.
In the post, Mohammad clarified that existing VCSP Premier Tier members will maintain their status, with possible exemptions granted to partners that face unique legal or sovereign data restrictions – the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom were mentioned as two such examples .
The move appears to address the concerns of CISPE, which urged the European Commission to launch an investigation into Broadcom following its acquisition of VMware late last year.
Cloud Commerce Managers will also be allowed to offer white label services, while current VCSP Registered Tier partners and former VMware Cloud Provider partners who are still uncertain about their future with VMware have been granted an extension to the transition deadline, which is now will apply on May 31, 2024.
Those who decide to leave the program have also been given until April 2025 to continue their cloud services, giving them more time to complete a successful migration.
In his role, Mohammad joined a number of other executives in acknowledging that “the change has been constant since the acquisition,” but the company has failed to appease some customers by offering too little, too late.
