Two festival-goers have revealed what to see and what not to see at Sydney’s Vivid Lights celebrations this year.
A foodie and guide who posts about the port city took to TikTok this week to endorse different aspects of the annual festival and how to avoid the crowds — while ditching some of the food on offer.
A TikTokker known as @therealsydneyeats posted a video to social media on Thursday with the caption, “The dos and don’ts of Vivid.”
She gave the drone show and a vegan roast potato dish the thumbs up — while urging people to plan ahead to see the “beautiful” lights and installations.
“Don’t do me and realize you only have 10 minutes to get to the drone show and there’s still so much food you want to eat,” the woman said.

But she wasn’t so sure about the cheesy corn dog (pictured) at the Rocks markets
She urged followers to “do, see” the drone show, as her vision showed bright planet formations and a whale as part of the aerial act.
The young woman also recommended people see the festival’s light installations and fire kitchen.
But she warned customers to avoid a $7 red velvet cookie that was “not gooey enough and a bit bland” for the high price.
She said revelers “shouldn’t be bothered” trying the food at the markets near the Rocks, but thought the cheesy corn dog could be a winner.
“The corn dog is a maybe, I’m still working out my feelings about it,” she said as she tucked into it in the video.
“Don’t get the bratwurst with melted cheese – the sausage wasn’t very good, three out of 10,” she said before giving a low score of one out of 10 for a waffle.
“Honestly, you’d probably get this at the grocery store and it would taste so much better,” she said.
Another Tiktokker with the handle @sydneyguide also posted a video advising viewers of the drone show to give Circular Quay a wide berth due to the overcrowded crowd.
Instead, they directed festival-goers to viewpoints on the Cahill Expressway above Circular Quay where it was ‘much less busy’.
The 23-day festival runs until June 17 and features light installations, music and food offerings at various locations in Sydney’s CBD.
