Vitor Pereira did not hold back in his criticism of Matheus Cunha, who performed poorly and showed negative body language during Wolves’ 3-1 defeat to Chelsea on Monday evening.
The Midlands club sit in 17th place – separated from the relegation zone only by goal difference – after succumbing to goals from Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Cucurella and Noni Madueke at Stamford Bridge.
Wolves were in the game for most of the evening – and were level with their hosts until the hour mark – with Matt Doherty equalizing for Pereira’s side.
But they fell away in the final third of the match and then Pereira warned Cunha about his behaviour.
“I had this conversation in the locker room,” Pereira said. “He can get frustrated because he wants to win, but everyone on the team wants to win.
‘I don’t like this body language. I want someone as captain who tries to help the team – run, suffer, fight together. This is something I can understand. Next time I won’t understand.’

As Cunha walked through the tunnel at full-time, Pereira added: “This is something that cannot happen again.”
Asked if his head has been turned by the interest in January, the Wolves boss said: ‘It’s human that the players are starting to get a bit… it’s normal in football.’
