Virginia woman Kimberly Winter, 33, breaks Guinness World Record for world’s LOUDEST belch for a woman

A Virginia woman has the dubious claim of being the latest Guinness World Record holder for the loudest female burp.

Kimberly Winter, 33, produced the record-breaking 107.3 bB burp live in the recording studio of an iHeartRadio station in Maryland.

The previous record of 107 dB was set in 2009 by Italy’s Elisa Cagnoni. The male record is held by Australia’s Neville Sharp, who did a 112.7 dB burp in 2021.

Winter’s farmer was louder than a blender, which is about 70 to 80 dB, an electric hand drill, between 90 and 95 dB, and even certain motorcycles at full throttle with their throttles wide open, which range between 100 and 110 dB.

“I just like to be loud and proud,” Winter told The Washington Post.

Winter, who grew up in Fauquier County, Virginia, told The Post that her family and friends were always impressed by the volume of her burps — and that she enjoyed impressing them.

But the record-breaking journey began when she posted a video of herself on TikTok last year, which was well received by some viewers who were impressed by the volume.

Within a month, Winter, who goes by “Kimycola” on TikTok, was urged by her viewers to buy a decibel meter and determined to break the record.

Early on she recorded a 109 dB jack and contacted Guinness World Records to have her achievement ratified, but they responded to dethrone Cagnoni, she would have to complete the winning jack in specific circumstances.

Not only would there have to be two witnesses, but it would also have to be recorded in a quiet room by a sound engineer on a microphone that was a fixed length from her – eight feet and two inches.

With no easy access to such facilities, she emailed her high school band teacher, who suggested she contact a former classmate, she told The Post.

That classmate was Eric Messick, who had recently started a music business and was willing to help. They contacted the local radio station to inquire about renting a room, and she was booked on the Elliot in the Morning radio show.

Winter trained for months and posted updates on TikTok, where she gained a small following. “I’m not going for the longest, I’m going for the hardest,” she commented in a video.

When she showed up at the studio, she was equipped with a Coors Light and had eaten a variety of carefully selected foods beforehand.

As Winter was being interviewed on the show, she burped intermittently, before telling the hosts she was ready to give it a go. Her first three burps were too quiet at 97.5, 107 and 103 decibels.

The last, record-breaking jack was 107.3. She told The Post that while she was happy to break the record, she felt she could surpass it by a more impressive margin.

“I’m really excited to beat it,” she said. “But I’m even more excited to break the record again.”
