Virgin River renewed for sixth season as actor Colin Lawrence does his ‘happy dance’ in celebration

Netflix will officially launch on Wednesday renewed the soap opera Virgin River — starring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson — for a sixth season well ahead of season five, which premieres this fall.

Colin Lawrence – who plays chef John ‘Preacher’ Middleton – was the first cast member to respond to the happy news during the troubling WGA strike.

“Hello everyone, I just wanted to share some exciting news with you. I just got word that we’ve been picked up for a season six,” the 52-year-old English-Canadian stumbled on Instagram.

‘Do my happy dance! Do my happy dance! I want to thank you all for so much love. I’m going to bring great stories your way. Oh, I’m excited! Season six, here we go!”

On November 21, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith – who replaced Sue Tenney – officially wrapped production on the 12-episode fifth season of the small-screen film adaptation of Robyn Carr’s best-selling book series.

‘Surprise!’ On Wednesday, Netflix officially renewed its soap opera Virgin River — starring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson (pictured on set in Vancouver on October 14) — for a sixth season, well ahead of season five which premieres this fall.

“There were so many cliffhangers at the end of season four, we’re picking them all up,” the Emmy-nominated producer shared. OW last July.

“I didn’t want anything to feel like a reset or reboot or anything like that because everything was so juicy and so interesting. It was more how I wanted to take it. And more importantly, where I wanted to go with it and first determine where I wanted to go with it before I knew how to go about it at the beginning, so it just didn’t feel like we were servicing it and then moving on to something else.”

Patrick couldn’t confirm whether the public will finally find out who is the father of Charmaine Roberts’ (Lauren Hammersley) long-pregnant twins, who were not fathered by bar owner Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).

“How can you best use that big twist?” Smith thought.

“But then also do what the show does so well, which is carry multi-season mysteries and questions and keep the audience guessing. So I can’t say it will be in 5, nor can I say it won’t. But it’s definitely something I’d rather put off and not waste. Because it’s that good.’

Aside from the baby daddy drama, audiences could get a wedding next season, as Jack and nurse Melinda “Mel” Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) got engaged during the fourth season.

The talented ensemble also includes Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Jenny Cooper, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Lauren Hammersley, Grayson Gurnsey, Sarah Dugdale, Zibby Allen and Marco Grazzini, Mark Ghanimé and Kai Bradbury.
